Global Load Balancing

Serving a worldwide audience can often result in latency and routing compromises - everybody gets a mediocre experience!

Deploy your entire application in multiple geographic locations and intelligently route visitors to their nearest instance. Like a CDN but for whole applications instead of just static content.

Vertical Scaling

Even when scaling horizontally, it's useful to be able to adjust the amount of resources on any individual server as well.

Our Jelastic PaaS does this for you automatically, and you can do this on demand for other Layershift services too.

Horizontal Scaling

Handling high volume workloads often becomes problematic for a single server, and vertical scaling (adding more resources) reaches technical and financial limitations.

All of Layershift's services can be scaled horizontally (meaning more servers distributing the workload in parallel, so each shoulders a lighter load), including appropriate load balancing, distribution, and monitoring solutions to deliver the most effective results.

Replication

If you scale horizontally, you need to keep the data synchronised between each duplicate server. Replication takes care of that for you.

There are various different types of replication available depending on the technologies involved and the specific scenario.
